(ISC)2 5th ISLA Award Announcement

(ISC)2 Asian Advisory Board has announced the names of the Award Winners:

Alhamd-o-li-Allah, Urdu Internet Society is pleased to broadcast the announcement received from (ISC)2 that
the Asian Advisory Board has recommended for fifth 5th annual (ISC)2 Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) Awards to following Information Security Professionals nominated from Urdu Internet Society.

1. The winner of the Award Category-1
   “Senior Information Security Professional of Asia 2011” is:
      Prof Dr Muhammad Sher,
      Chairman Department of Computer Science,
      International Islamic University, Islamabad

2. The winner of the Award Category-2
      “Information Security Practitioner of Asia 2011” is:
      Mr. Ameen Shareef, CEH, CISA, CISSP
      Head of Information Security,
      Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, Rawalpindi.


The Award Ceremony will be held on 26th July at Jakarta alongwith the Secure Asia 2011 Conference at Indonesia.

Hurry-up Apply for ICANN's Fellowship to attend 42nd Meeting

Last date for the submission for ICANN's Fellowhsip Program. Online Application will close shortly by Friday, 8th July 2011.

Once you fell that you are a member of Internet Community and you want to explore the organization that is responsible to organize the Name and Numbers of this Internet System, you have to explore the ICANN website www.ICANN.org. If you like to meet with them, its working groups, its board members or its staff, you can attend their meetings remotely or physically. Just visit http://meetings.icann.org/ If you would to participate in ICANN’s meetings physically, you can apply through their fellowship program in which about 20-30 people are selected from Global Internet Community three times a year. And ICANN’s meeting are held in different locations on the globe thrice a year, for example ICANN’s 41st meeting was the Second meeting of this year and was being held at Singapore, now third meeting of the year 2011 is planned to be held at Dakar, Africa.

Working Groups added for UISoc Global Internet Community:

1- Urdu Internet Security Research Working Group of UISoc
- Urdu Internet Society is pleased to announce a new Working Group in the leadership and direct supervision of Prof. Dr Muhammad Sher, Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering, Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, Science Block (Block-III), International Islamic University, H-10 Sector, Islamabad. A mailing list is proposed as UISRWG(at)UISoc.org.

Prof. Dr . Muhammad Sher in leading the Information Security Research Projects including the bridging between IPv4-IPv6 and Cryptography. His name is nominated for 5th ISLA Award of (ISC)2 for Senior Level of Award Category.

2- IT & IS Professionals Working Group of UISoc*New
- Urdu Internet Society is pleased to announce a new Working Group,
organized by Mr Ameen Sharif. His name is also proposed for for 5th ISLA Award of (ISC)2 for the category of Information Security Practitioner. A mailing list is proposed as ITISPWG(at)UISoc.org.

1- Global Creative Media Chapter of UISoc
- Sayyed Ali Mustafa Zaidi Paras Ali, brought new ideas to open new Dimensions and requested to organize Media related professionals on this platform for the development of Creative Media for Change. He is editor of Weekly newspaper Technology Times and is Secretary and an active member of the Technology Foresight Panel of Experts for ICT Development at Pakistan Technology Board of Ministry of Science & Technology, Islamabad.

2- Rawalpindi Chapter of UISoc
> Mr Ameen Sharif has shown his commitment to UISoc and requested
for UISoc Chapter for Rawalpindi/ Islamabad. After a review, the Chapter for Rawalpindi is being created and Mr Ameen Sharif will be the Group Leader of this Chapter.

> Mr Ameen Sharif also has given idea for the formation of Working Group of IT & Information Security Professionals and a separate mailing list for them to address related issues and provide guidance and support to Urdu Internet Community. This application is under strong consideration.

Last Date Extended for 5th ISLA Award

Last date for the submission of Nomination has been extended
from 6th to 13th May 2011
. However, the nominations should be reached to Urdu Internet Society by Monday, 9th May 2011 for further processing and finalization of Nomination Lists.

The Award Ceremony will be held on 26th July at Jakarta.

Urdu Internet Society® Application for ALS Certification

Urdu Internet Society is please to inform its members that UISoc is going to apply for ICANN’s At-large structure certification after about 4 years affiliation and participation in its Policy Development Program. Once the certification is granted as ALS status, the members would be able to participate in its constituencies and working groups on voluntarily basis. However, according to the by-laws the residents of the Countries of the Region i.e. Asia Pacific will be predominated in the operations, while not excluding additional participation as in our case the Members of the Global Chapters will be able to join.

Urdu Internet Society is already committed to support Internet Community and has been participating (Remotely/Physically) in ICANN's most of the Activities, Policy Development Process, working for IDN ccTLD, New gTLD process and policy development for Internet user Communities from Developing Economies and Developed Economies IC-DgEc/DdEc.

Regardless of the earlier discussion regarding the joint efforts of UISoc it is necessary to mention that the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., (ISC)2 and Information Security Asia has announced that the International Information Security Conference SecureAsia 2011 will be held at Jakarta, Indonesia on 26-27 July 2011.

Further Information may please be available at SecureAsia2011.com i.e. now redirecting to the prime site of “http://www.informationsecurityasia.com/”.

(ISC)2 has also allowed UISoc to keep receiving CFP on Information Security Conference (SecureAsia2011) and forward them the selected ones.

Due to strong response from Public, Private and Academia UISoc Committed to continue efforts and campaign to conduct
the Information Security Conference at Pakistan in coming year(s) with the help of (ISC)2 and Information Security Asia.

Nomination Submissions from Pakistan for 5th ISLA Award

UISoc has submitted Nominations for the following Categories:

a) Senior Information Security Professional &

------> Dr Prof. Muhammed Sher, Head of CS Dept, IIU, Islamabad

c) Information Security Practitioner:

UISoc has shortlisted about 14 Professionals for all three categories of the 5th ISLA Award from its invitations sent all over the Pakistan including Public, Private Sector, Corporate and Academia.

Even after getting the special approval from ISC2 regarding the last date extension, UISoc could hardly receive only three (3) complete forms along with Project Details, Documentation
proof and also found valid to fulfill the requirements of ISC2 nomination form and rules.

The Award Ceremony will be held on 26th July at Jakarta along with the SecureAsia Regional Conference at Jakarta on 26-27 July 2011.

The Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) Program is held annually by (ISC)² in cooperation with the (ISC)² Asian Advisory Board to recognize outstanding leadership and achievements in workforce improvement of information security professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.

Following are the categories for the nomination.
a)    Senior Information Security Professional
b)    Managerial Professional for an Information Security Project
c)    Information Security Practitioner

Urdu Internet Society has given the privilege and special honor by Head of Business Development (Asia Pacific) (ISC)2 to submit the Nominations for their The 5th Annual (ISC)² Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) Program.

After the signatures of the Joint Member of UISoc + (ISC)2, the nomination forms will be forwarded to the ISLA Project team for the review by the Asian Advisory Board. SecureAsia Conference 2011 support by Urdu Internet Society

CFP for Information Security Asia Conference 2011:

Mr Atif Nazar Ali, CISSP, Security Advisor & Group Leader of Urdu Internet Society Islamabad Chapter has engaged International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 to conduct "Information Security Asia Conference 2011" in Pakistan (during his honorary visit to Singapore). Mr Atif also has engaged Ministry of Science & Technology to host this event at Islamabad.
The date of the Secure Asia Conference 2011 has to be decided yet, but most probably it will be March or October 2010.

Urdu Internet Society ensure full support to Mr Atif Nazar Ali, and International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 for every step of this important event of "Information Security Asia Conference 2011".
"Urdu Internet Society", seek your contribution and suggestion for "Secure Asia Conference 2011".

Following information is important to manage and host this event:

- Willingness to Support Secure Asia Conference 2011.
